Parental…Rights and Wrongs!

With an increasingly higher number of parents separating, it appears many parents are unsure of the correct answer often resulting in conflict between the parents and distress to the children involved.

Caroline Payne of BPS says “I have had a number of clients who have been misled over who has parental responsibility for their children. It is common place that many parents misunderstand the legalities surrounding parental responsibility and their position” There are a number of factors that have a role in this belief, the media being one of them. “Media coverage of high profile cases often portrays one parent having more rights over the other. The media often gives the impression that one parent would automatically have more responsibility than the other as a matter of course.”

Caroline Payne at Betesh Partnership Solicitors, BPS, has expertise in handling difficult and complex children matters with specialist knowledge of children law and your parental rights. BPS has a number of international children cases resolving disputes regarding where the child lives and contact. BPS are happy to talk to you and discuss any concerns you may have and the options available to you. BPS offers a free legal clinic each Wednesday after 5pm for those who can’t make a solicitors appointment during working hours.
