National Minimum Wage (NMW) rates to change from 1 October 2013

As of 1 October 2013 the following increases to the NMW rates will take effect:

Category of Worker

The NMW rate per hour depends on a person’s age and whether they’re an apprentice – they must be at least school leaving age (16) to obtain it.

NMW Rate per hour
Standard adult (workers aged 21 and over) £6.31 (currently £6.19)
Development (workers aged between 18 and 20) £5.03 (currently £4.98)
Young workers (aged under 18 but above compulsory school age and not apprentices) £3.72 (currently £3.68)
Apprentices (apprentices under 19 or 19 and over but in the first year of apprenticeship) £2.68 (currently £2.65)
