Experiencing a lawyer’s life with BPS

At BPS we are committed to providing opportunities for students to gain work experience in a legal environment. We like to see commitment in our staff from an early age and therefore it seems only fair we open our doors to those wanted to learn the ropes. We know such opportunities are rare and very much sought after. We will always try and accommodate people who are genuinely looking to improve there knowledge and understanding of our profession.

Emma Shields, aged 16, engaged in a work expeirence programme with us from 16 July 2012 to 20 July 2012

Emma says “I have just completed my final year at Clucheth High School”. Emma is going to college in September and will be studying Law. When asked about her career aspirations Emma said “I want to be a lawyer, preferably a family, criminal or welfare Solicitor”. “I feel I am now more informed about divorce proceedings and I have learnt how to fill out offical documents to send to the courts. I have also learnt how to compose formal letters”. We asked Emma if, after her experience with BPS, if she still thought law was the right career path for her, she answered “yes becuase it is a topic I am realy interest in and I aspire to be a sucessful solicitor”. Emma says “I would like to engage in work expeirence with BPS again because I fully enjoyed my week at the Hale branch.  I really got on with everyone there”.   Emma’s next course of action towards her career goals are to get good grades at A-Level and go on to university, further to qualify as a Solicitor.

“I had a great week and got on so well with everyone in the office. I really appreciate Caroline Payne allowing me to engage in work experience for the week with her and everyone at the Hale branch. Thank you, hope to be back again ”

We would like to thank Emma for choosing BPS to provide her with insight into the profession. We were very impressed at Emma’s abilities at such an early stage in her working life. We would welcome Emma to come back and work with us at any time.
